Welcome to Your Classroom!

E3=Encourage, Educate and Empower….every student
Math II continues a progression of the standards established in Math I. In addition to these standards, Math II includes: polynomials, congruence and similarity of figures, trigonometry with triangles, modeling with geometry, probability, making inferences and justifying conclusions. At the completion of Math I, II and III, students will have developed a deep understanding of mathematical concepts and use mathematical ways of thinking to solve real-world problems. Both collaborative groups and individual work are used to explore, conjecture, verify, apply, evaluate, and communicate mathematical ideas.
In a Math II Honors class, students should be prepared for continuing on to a Honors Math III class and eventually moving into post-secondary education. Therefore, students will be exposed to increasingly complex mathematical concepts with less scaffolding and an emphasis on integrating prior knowledge with new skills. In addition, they are analyzing mathematical scenarios and reflecting on these new skills in writing to prepare our Advanced Learners for college-level study and create life-long learners.
At Overhills High School, the Math classrooms (with the exception of Math I) are homogeneously grouped. Although students earning honors credit are in the same classroom, we still employ a variety of methods and strategies to meet the needs and challenge all students. The ways in which we differentiate the content for Honors students include:
